Peru I
It would seem that we hate our land, but we do not.
but we don't.
As if we could hate
who gave birth to us.
We did not escape from it.
We escape from the limits,
from the leash that binds us,
chokes us, suffocates us, subjugates us.
It cuts off our circulation
growth and wings.
Satirically,
the lack of opportunity again.
We escape from disguised promises
to put our shoulder, our all, for the company.
And thus of what plays us crookedly
abusing us in the name of our virtues.
The war between the one who was born to create
and the follower
is already too much in our chest.
We need to go beyond.
To venture into the unknown sea,
into the ravine of uncertainty,
without mesh, without parachute
to test ourselves
and find ourselves.
Many say it would not have been necessary,
but at that moment there was no other alternative.
Now we have planted the seed far away,
but our root is still there.
It stretches, it spreads
reaches far
the longing is felt.

Pareciera que odiáramos a nuestra tierra
pero no.
Como si se pudiera odiar
a quién nos alumbró.
No escapamos de ella.
Escapamos de los límites,
de la correa que nos ataja,
nos ahorca, ahoga, nos subyuga.
Nos corta la circulación
el crecimiento y las alas.
Satíricamente,
de la falta de oportunidad otra vez.
Escapamos de promesas disfrazadas
de ese poner el hombro, el todo, por la empresa.
Y así de lo que nos juega chueco
abusándonos en nombre de nuestras virtudes.
La guerra entre el que nació para crear y el seguidor
es demasiada ya en nuestro pecho.
Necesitamos ir más allá.
Aventarnos al mar desconocido,
al barranco de la incertidumbre,
sin malla, sin paracaídas
para probarnos
y encontrarnos.
Muchos dicen que no hubiera sido necesario,
pero en ese momento no quedaba otra alternativa.
Ahora hemos plantado la semilla lejos,
pero nuestra raíz sigue allí
se estira, se extiende
alcanza lejos
se nota la añoranza.
Que lleve con ella la fuerza
de nuestra voz.
¡Todavía te amo, Perú !

the chorrillanos, the chalacos, the chotanos,
the surquillanos, the casmeños, the miraflorinos,
the teachers, the street vendors, the canillitas,
the microbuseros, the office workers, the surfers,
those who live abroad.
the folkloric, the rockers, the chicheros,
the merengueros, the salseros,
our diversity intertwines us.
From all and for all. For everyone.
A country of all bloods, in all its expression.
Arguedas declared it,
Mariátegui claimed it,
Sabogal painted it,
César Vallejo distilled it in his poetry.

los limeños, los cuzquenos, los puneños,
los ayacuchanos, los tacneños, los apurimeños,
los ucayalinos, los chiclayanos, los arequipeños,
los chorrillanos, los chalacos, los chotanos,
los surquillanos, los casmeños, los miraflorinos,
los maestros, los ambulantes, los canillitas,
los microbuseros, los oficinistas, los surfistas,
los que viven fuera.
los folklóricos, los rockeros, los chicheros,
los merengueros, los salseros,
nos entrelaza nuestra diversidad.
De todos y para todos. Para con todos.
Un país de todas las sangres, en toda su expresión.
Arguedas lo declaró,
Mariátegui lo reclamó,
Sabogal lo pintó,
César Vallejo lo destiló en su poesía.
Mires por donde lo mires,
preguntes a quien le preguntes,
